With over a decade of programmatic experience, the East Bay Conservation Corps' (EBCC) Project YES (Youth Engaged in Service) program provides in-class, after school, weekend, and summer service-learning programs to students in Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) schools. Project YES also trains teachers and AmeriCorps members in service-learning education. LFA conducted a strategic assessment in order to inform the future direction and development of the Project YES program model.
Working with EBCC staff and in conjunction with the Department of Conservation, LFA designed baseline and follow-up survey instruments to evaluate the changes in knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors that Corps members experience through participation in the EBCC program. We also designed a data collection system to track EBCC's beautification work in communities in Oakland, California and other East Bay regions.
