In 2001, San Mateo County WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) received a grant from the San Mateo County Children and Families First Commission to enhance their breastfeeding education, support, and outreach services in order to increase rates of breastfeeding initiation, exclusive breastfeeding, and breastfeeding duration among WIC clients .San Mateo County WIC contracted with LFA to conduct a three-year evaluation of the services provided and assess progress toward the project's goals.
