Northern California Grantmakers' (NCG) AIDS Partnership California (APC) contracted with LFA to conduct an evaluation of its Prevention for Positive People of Color Initiative. APC developed the concept for this Initiative in anticipation of the California State Office of AIDS (OA) January 2002 issuance of a policy directive to allocate prevention funds to services for people living with HIV and AIDS. The Initiative is taking a leadership role in facilitating this system shift by increasing the capacity and effectiveness of community-based organizations to provide HIV prevention services for people of color living with HIV. Through focus groups, key informant interviews, and baseline and follow-up surveys, LFA's evaluation will measure the quality and benefits of services provided to organizations as part of the Initiative.
AIDS Partnership California engaged LFA to collaboratively design and implement the California HIV Futures Project. Through this research project, LFA consultants interviewed over 20 California-based experts in HIV/AIDS to identify future trends and issues over the next five years in HIV in California. The product of this research, "Questions at the Crossroads: Surviving the third Decade of HIV in California" is intended to provoke strategic thinking among HIV/AIDS nonprofit and government leaders and planners, and to inform future directions for APC and other funders.
