LFA provides expert consultation to the Eisenhower Foundation on evaluation design issues to ensure that evaluation measures and processes are best aligned with expected outcomes for their multi-site Quantum Opportunities after-school programs for at-risk youth.
The Milton S Eisenhower Foundation engaged the services of LFA to conduct its third year of comprehensive evaluation for the Foundation's Full-Service Community Schools Replication Initiative, a nationwide school reform initiative. Five middle schools in Iowa, Pennsylvania, and Maryland have implemented the full-service community schools model and are participating in the evaluation. LFA is conducting both experimental and quasi-experimental designs, depending on the status of the model's implementation at the individual school. Full-service community schools offer a wide array of academic, health, and social services onsite at the school building. Increased parent involvement, increased community partnerships, and improved student achievement and social-emotional development are key indicators of success in implementing the model. This is a four-year project that will shed light on whether the full-service community schools model is effective in closing the achievement gap and improving students' health and well-being.
