The Proteus Fund’s contracted with LFA to conduct a evaluation of its Civil Marriage Collaborative (CMC). Comprised of six national funders, the CMC supports organizations working to strengthen a broad and diverse grassroots constituency to achieve civil marriage equality in the United States and oppose efforts which limit or deny those rights to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. Recognizing that much of the debate is unfolding on a state-by-state basis, the CMC seeks to support strategic state and local efforts in states where the possibility of advancing civil marriage equality is significant. The evaluation is assessing grantees’ progress toward their stated goals, the structure and functioning of the Collaborative, and the Collaborative’s cumulative impact on the marriage equality movement.
