The San Francisco Education Fund (Ed Fund) has engaged LFA to conduct program evaluations within each Ed Fund department, build the organization’s internal evaluation capacity, and assess how well the Ed Fund’s program overall are aligned with its mission to guide organizational reflection and planning. The Ed Fund provides a variety of opportunities and activities for students, teachers, and school communities in the San Francisco public schools designed to improve educational processes and systems ultimately so that students can achieve at their optimal potential. LFA’s initial work with the Ed Fund involves focusing on department-level evaluations, including: logic model development, clarification of evaluation questions, and data collection instrument development. LFA is also guiding the Ed Fund through a Theory of Change process to link individual department strategies with overall organizational goals. This evaluation process will provide the Ed Fund with a clear understanding of the impacts its programs are having on various stakeholders and participants, how existing programs align with the Ed Fund’s mission and vision, as well as providing recommendations for narrowing gaps between the Ed Fund’s mission and program offerings.
