Redwood City 2020 Early Mental Health Evaluation
Early Mental Health Evaluation

Redwood City 2020 has engaged LFA for multiple consulting and evaluation projects. The Early Mental Health Project aims to increase retention of preschoolers, to help teachers learn new strategies for dealing with classroom behavior issues, and to improve the quality of early education classrooms and curricula. LFA will analyze existing data to identify changes experienced by teachers and children, to make recommendations for systems and policy changes to increase coordination among stakeholders, and to articulate lessons learned that could be applied to the upcoming county-wide implementation of Preschool for All.

Redwood City 2020
Strategic Planning and Preschool for All Consultation

Redwood City 2020 has engaged LFA to facilitate an organizational strategic planning process and to guide the development of a workplan for San Mateo County’s county-wide implementation of Preschool For All in the 2006 school year.

After School Education and Safety (ASES)

LFA is conducting an evaluation of Redwood City 2020’s After School Education and Safety (ASES) grant. The evaluation will examine the effectiveness of Redwood City after School learning centers in improving students’ academic successes and in strengthening youths’ overall social and emotional development.

Evaluation of the Community Schools Initiative

LFA is conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the Redwood City 2020 Community Schools Initiative, and of the Sequoia Teen Resource Center in Redwood City. The goals of the Initiative are to improve student academic achievement and youth development, strengthen families, improve school climate, empower parents to advocate for their children and the community, and to produce ripple effects beyond the school boundaries, resulting in better overall neighborhood and community health. The goals of the Teen Resource Center are to meet the students’ physical and emotional needs, help the students improve their academic achievement, to motivate them to engage in their own social, emotional, cognitive and physical development, and to empower students to make healthy decisions regarding their own sexual activity. The evaluation will report on outcomes for students and families at the Community Schools, and for students participating in the Teen Resource Center. At the same time, the evaluation will assess the extent to which the Community School programs and services also create change within the community.
