The California Healthcare Foundation contracted with LFA to conduct a formal evaluation of the HealthFunders Extranet—a comprehensive directory of foundation staff searchable by areas of expertise and program focus, a grants database searchable by program area, grant amount and geographic scope as well as calendaring and discussion features. The purpose of the evaluation is to highlight lessons learned in launching the site; identify strengths and areas of improvement of the site; assess project sustainability; and determine if and how healthfunders@work contributed to fostering communication and information sharing among its members. LFA will review prior member survey reports and relevant extranet site usage data; conduct a literature review and summary of current research and best practices in knowledge management; conduct key informant interviews with stakeholders; and develop and administer a user survey for distribution via the extranet.
