Scaling of Social Entrepreneurs

Supported through a generous grant from the Skoll Foundation, LFA is conducting a study of the capacities that are critical to the successful scaling of social entrepreneurships. Social entrepreneurships are organizations that design and implement innovative solutions to social issues resulting in significant changes to systems and policies. This research will result in a useful product for the field of social entrepreneurship that will guide social entrepreneurs contemplating scaling their efforts and the funders who support them. The study objectives include identifying organizational capacities crucial to successful scaling; capturing lessons learned about building organizational capacity to support scaling organizations, networks and programs; and disseminating new knowledge to the field. The study results will be presented at the Skoll World Forum at Oxford University in March 2006.
